Oklahoma Running Back Samaje Perine's Record Setting Day

Samaje Perine Record Day

Only a week after Melvin Gordon broke LaDainian Tomlinson's 15-year-old mark with 408 rushing yards against Nebraska, Oklahoma freshman Samaje Perine rushed for 427 yards against Kansas, setting the new FBS record.

Perine rushed 34 times for a 12.6 per-carry average, scoring five touchdowns on rushes of 49, 33, 34, 66 and 27 yards. He left the game immediately after setting the record with the Sooners up 44-7 on the Jayhawks, the eventual final score.

''It's still surreal,'' Perine said, per the Associated Press. ''I just looked at it as doing what I had to do to help my team. I'm not really feeling special in any type of way.'' (CBSSports)
